Solar Energy Access

In many places, access to reliable electricity is still a serious problem. Power cuts happen often, and in some regions the electricity grid is weak or unreliable. This directly affects schools, healthcare, and everyday life, as important equipment cannot always be used when it is needed.

Solar panels offer a practical and sustainable way to deal with this problem. They use sunlight to produce electricity, which can be stored in batteries for later use. This means power is available even when the grid goes down or is not available at all. With solar energy, communities can rely less on an unstable power grid and create better conditions for education and other essential activities.

Solar Panels Arrived at Wegdam High School

01-30-2026

The container with solar panels has arrived at Wegdam High School and is ready to be installed. Solar panels have also been shipped for Stichting Improve as part of the same project.

In Sierra Leone, the electricity grid is extremely limited, and in many areas there is no electricity at all. Because of this, equipment such as laptops and sewing machines that we previously shipped could not be used.

With the solar panels and battery system, the school will now have its own power supply. This means the equipment can finally be used, and the school building we constructed can also be used in the evenings, as lighting can run on solar energy.
