Clean water in schools and community for safer learning and living

In the Upper George Brook community of Freetown, Sierra Leone, over 800 schoolchildren, 500 households, and 15 teachers face daily risks due to the lack of clean drinking water. Girls miss up to 20% of the school year, increasing the chances of early pregnancy and dropout. Women-led families are trapped in a cycle of poverty, spending their scarce income on waterborne illness treatments.

One project can change that.

By ensuring access to safe, affordable water, this initiative will directly impact over 8,000 people, improving health, education, and economic opportunity, especially for women and girls. Every day without clean water costs learning, safety, and lives. The time to act is now.

This project is focussed on building or rehabiliating clean water sources (likely boreholes or solar-powered water systems) within the community and at the schools to ensure consistent, safe drinking water access.
