Powering Masanga Hospital – A Lifeline Through Electricity
Masanga Hospital, a leading NGO-supported medical facility in Sierra Leone’s rural Tonkolili District, is in urgent need of a reliable and sustainable power supply. Currently, the hospital relies solely on a limited EU-funded solar system after both backup power plants failed. This shortage severely affects critical services like surgeries, maternity care, emergency procedures, and sanitation.
With over 1,380 surgeries, 583 births, and 2,573 admissions in 2024 alone, Masanga plays a vital role in national healthcare, training, and research. This project aims to restore and enhance the hospital’s energy infrastructure, ensuring continuous power for life-saving equipment and essential services, day and night.
Reliable electricity is not a luxury—it’s a necessity to save lives.
