Across Sierra Leone’s rural Karene District, thousands of vulnerable young people, especially girls and young mothers are trapped in cycles of poverty due to a lack of education and vocational skills. The Wegdam Vocation and Technology Institute, established in partnership with We Yone Child Foundation, is changing that. Over 350 youth have received multiple years of hands-on training in trades like tailoring, carpentry, catering, and IT-building skills that lead to real jobs and real independence.
But the need is growing faster than our capacity. Every week, more young women apply than we can accommodate. Without funding for classrooms, equipment, and training materials, we must turn them away. With the risk losing their chance at a better life.
Your support today means access to skills, safety, and sustainable futures. Be the difference.
